2007 – A Personal Flashback

By another five-six hours, another year will bolt the door and a brand new one will open itself up. To be honest the past one year has been fantastic to me. For it has opened new and unexpected vistas in my otherwise lull life. Call it the New Year spirit or flashback or whatever; I am tempted to look back at two important events during the past one year of my life and write something here. So let me begin:

Faith

The town’s biggest (haughtiest) business man decided to pay a visit to the houses of the less fortunate.

On one such occasion, he visited the shed of old Jose who was the local coffin maker. For no good reason he decided to ridicule the old man’s job and joked out loud to those near him.

“Ah, here’s a profession that always needs an out-of-the-box thinking! You must be thanking god for putting you in this one Jose!”

A few around, realizing the jab and laughed out loud while others did the same mostly to impress the big man.

A Song to the Mahakavi

Some songs capture attention,
Some songs cultivate noble thoughts,
Some songs lift the lid of dearth,
Some songs bring tears to the eyes,
Some songs give joy infinite,
Some songs are meant to be sung forever…

Like songs so are people,
Some will be champions of their time,
Leaders remain a motivation for others,
Legends will be remembered forever,
Praises of heroes sung – long after they are gone,
But only a destined few are born to be a ‘Mahakavi’!
