Trip to Windermere and Manchester

Pics from our trip to The Lake District of UK and a short visit to The Old Trafford in Manchester

Looks like there has been an eerie silence in my blog for the past few months. I feel it is time to bring in a bit of Easter cheer!

Eternal Spirit

The eternal soul is an unquenched thirst in our mind for perfection, a fire burning deep within each one of us, an unresolvable enigma whose purpose is beyond human understanding. Yet seek it is what we do, day in and day out.

You exist formless like the wind
You take no shape and yet
Complete the incomplete
Filling my void.

Breaking the Routine

2015 – An year of Breaking the Routine. Here is my usual lookback at the year that just seemed to have zipped past!

It was the beginning of an uncertain year. If there was any certainity in life, it was that our routine life was going to be shaken up. That we were to fly out of the nest of three years that we had gotten so very comfortable with.

Weathering a Storm

I am trying to summarize the course of events as they unfolded in my hometown during the last four days. Chennai is perhaps one of the first cities experiencing a serious repercussion of Global Warming. But I am hoping Chennaites derive a lot of positives out of this ordeal and the world media starts to read between the lines.

I am jittery as I write this. My hometown Chennai is in the news for all the bad reasons. For those of you who are living under a rock, this is one of Indian metropolitan cities. Wikipedia might be able to give more stats about the population and other stats.

The Fight Within

Who is tasked with running of the world?
Whose ideals should humanity follow?
What is society without tolerance?
What is a mind without a choice?

Perched on the lush green tree,
In the middle of the field,
It’s eyes scouted the scene
Waiting for the next prey to yield.

There was much clamour,
Boisterous loud noises,
When men in fine armour
Burnt faith in to ashes.

Spitting and spewing hatred
With every gasp of breath;
Love’s defence was truly shattered
Whilst they did fight to their death!

A Spark of Life

Events that in recent past have engulfed humanity to sadness. Scenes that seem to repeat themselves from a nightmare, that we long to forget. Have we forgotten that showing kindness and empathy only makes us stronger and not weak?

Several decades ago when we were waking ourselves from a nightmare that the world war was, all eyes turned East to salvage some pride. It needed a Gandhi for the world to come to the realization that what we really needed was a war without weapons, a fight without words.

A Gentle Sob

As I complete another chapter in my life and shift on to a new place and new friends, I ponder over these games that fate plays in life and the ache one feels while parting with a stable lifestyle and some close friends! Hopefully all these are for something good ahead.

It was a beautiful journey
Down the green mountain valley.
Cheerful and gay
I looked forward to every day.

The noise of the engine
Never spoiled our chatter;
The sounds of others around
Was lost in our laughter.

New Year 2015 at Bangalore

We spent our New Year’s Day at Bangalore this time. I am just penning a few thoughts on the year gone by and also jotting down a quick travelogue. There was not too much of travel as compared to our previous trip. Perhaps because we intended this to be a nice little break than a vacation of some sort.

It’s the end of another year and as is my tradition for past several years it is time to write a yearly write up. But then again, I was traveling around on new year’s eve and so wished to write a travelogue as well. Why not just club these together?

Happy Shopping

Here’s my take on the “big billion day” fiasco. My opinion is rather mixed and this could be a rather lengthy read.

Shopping is fun when, after a hard fought bargain, you finally do end up getting something you desire. Even if you fail to get anything at all, it can still be a considered a very good pastime if you do it on a regular basis; at least you end up meeting some charming characters.

That was shopping as I recall. In a technologically shrinking world with an even faster shrinking affordability for the common man, we have come to trust quality and brand over honing our bargaining skills or developing an interest in meeting a new person.
