Plain Dosa

She didn’t know where she got all these words from but decided that they were much better than saying “God never came” or even worse to upset her kids first thing in the morning by saying “God was upset with you two and decided you should be punished.

If god was indeed very angry with them then god was not to be. Like any mom she believed her kids were the epitome of innocence and god better not dare to even think of punishing them.

So wipe your tears, go finish your morning duties and come for saying your prayers” she said rising from the ground to see two bright, smiling faces in front of her. It is scenes like these that made her otherwise simple life extraordinary and worth living.

The kids went away happy (as kids should be) and shouting.

Well done Mom” said Shankar coming from the next room.

You heard all that nonsense I said” said Sumitra blushing.

Of course, I couldn’t help to eavesdrop on what my kids are being told” said Shankar “and you did the way I knew you will. See now they won’t hesitate to make some effort in anything they attempt at” he said to his beaming wife.

And what would you have told them?” asked Sumitra.

Probably I would have scolded them a bit and then said not to worry, probably that I apologized and pleaded to god to you know, spare them! But never could I have done it the way a mom could have.

Okay. Okay. Thanks! Now you get ready for your prayer and breakfast” she said smiling.

Yes ma’m” said Shankar and left the room.

She turned back to the small Puja room and thanked god for giving such a good family and such a wonderful beginning to a day and left the room.
