Evolution with Changing Times

My previous post was almost a pessimistic view point of today’s world. Looking back I realized a much more positive outlook was in order. This is also my entry to the first round of an organizational level essay contest (with a word limit of 1000 words). This made the cut from around 700 entries to the last 8.

I was probably around 14 years old when I was first exposed to a real boy’s toy – a mid-90’s gaming console. It wasn’t mine, of course, but that of a friend. I knew then that I’d found my first love, but also felt that handling stuff like these was probably just once in a lifetime opportunity for me.

I wouldn’t notice then that my bare necessities were evolving. Little did I know that, in under a couple of years, consoles like these would be obsolete and that my life will be inundated with electronics (of all sort) in more ways than I’d care to remember!

How to Buy a Mobile

A small comedy that happened while I was helping my friend buy a mobile…

Yesterday, I and a friend of mine were off to buy a mobile, for him. Since he had already made his choice and had even decided on the shop, things were rather smooth for us. No bustling around trying to compare this with that and finally fall prey to the shopkeeper’s theatrical skills.

We were informed that they don’t have any working piece to try our hands-on. So we decided to buy the phone and finally after we did we said we wanted to test the phone at leisure. Being the kind host the shopkeeper was he had no qualms about it and we started looking into this funky gadget one feature after another.
