A Song for the Unknown Child

Something written impromptu; maybe I hear too many unheard cries of late? This is written for those kids whose childhood has been cut short – perhaps by war, calamity or acts of terror.

They were not meant to be headline news in negative sense. Maybe if we were tolerant enough, we might have seen another flower bloom

I was born in someone’s womb,
Cherished, nourished and nurtured.
I have been in the shop of candy
Built a castle on the sea shore.

I loved the rocking horse,
Also the carousel at fun fair.
I’ve founded many realms, in play;
Lost countless hours in peekaboo.

A Shortcut to Heaven

My response to those seeking life’s purpose, but unable to find it. My answer to what I think is the true purpose of life.

Hell’s gate opened up
Swallowing me in whole
Crazy as it may seem
’twas not too bad at all.

I followed the path hazy
Leading to nowhere sure.
The way was not that scenic
At least I wasn’t there alone.

The Taste of True Faith

A story where one kid’s sacrifice means another’s gain in this world. I hope, by reading this, some kind of balance is seen about the way the world works!

What is it mommy?“ Ivan came running from his hiding place after hearing his mother shouting his name for the seventh time. He had toyed with her enough. Now he badly needed a cuddle.

Look over there Ivan“ Darya pointed to a small crowd that had gathered in the market square as she gathered him in her arms and lifted him to show something beyond the serpentine queue.

Finding my Sanity

Written for my kids – on international father’s day!

I woke up one Sunday morning
Eager for mom’s special treat
It came without any warning
My life, now, had a whole new beat.

I walked out of my little home
Wanting to enjoy a quiet walk.
It was completely out of tone,
The chaos & the boisterous talk.

A Log on Fire

This life of ours is like a log of wood burning in the star that is the true spirit of everyone

I stood by the ancient fire
One that the souls endure
Neither quelled, nor quenched
With a pang, my heart wrenched.

Started with a benign fondle
Sparked by a Love so pure
Oh ye mother, who stayed strong
How could your ember go so wrong?

A Spark of Life

Events that in recent past have engulfed humanity to sadness. Scenes that seem to repeat themselves from a nightmare, that we long to forget. Have we forgotten that showing kindness and empathy only makes us stronger and not weak?

Several decades ago when we were waking ourselves from a nightmare that the world war was, all eyes turned East to salvage some pride. It needed a Gandhi for the world to come to the realization that what we really needed was a war without weapons, a fight without words.

A Gentle Sob

As I complete another chapter in my life and shift on to a new place and new friends, I ponder over these games that fate plays in life and the ache one feels while parting with a stable lifestyle and some close friends! Hopefully all these are for something good ahead.

It was a beautiful journey
Down the green mountain valley.
Cheerful and gay
I looked forward to every day.

The noise of the engine
Never spoiled our chatter;
The sounds of others around
Was lost in our laughter.

A Touch of God

Isn’t it fitting that it takes a heart to balance the rhythm of life and love to make some sense of our existence? Here are my thoughts which try to join the, rather, vague dots connecting love, life and that divine touch.

Here’s something that’s never going to make practical sense. The chink in our “survival armour”. The impractical solution that just exacerbated our every day problems. Thanks God!

We have a very strange history here on earth. For anything that we make, we seek ways to destroy. For all the heart breaks we suffer, we still long to love and do good. I was thinking what god would be thinking, looking at us. My thoughts here.

I wonder what god will have to say
While looking back at us
Will there be pride and joy?
Or anguish and disdain?
